Views and Opinions
We can all hold on to our views and opinions, nothing is stopping us or telling us it is wrong to do so. Everything is constantly and lovingly telling us that it is a mistake though. If we want to experience the liberating true nature of existence, we have to be willing to let go and listen. This is not negotiable, it’s not a bit of this and a bit of that. It’s the ongoing nature of bringing true self into practice.
There isn’t a time or place when I can lay claim to having given up views and opinions. Practice of the truth takes place indivisibly from the situations, conditions, environments of living. It’s never taking place in abstract or smug ‘understandings’.
Seeing the restrictive problematic consequences, of clinging to views and opinions, is getting free of clinging to views and opinions. Even seeing and seen are being forgotten. Clinging and restriction naturally weaken within making the effort to turn towards what is real and letting oneself be exerted by what is there. There is no need to make ourselves enemies of ourselves by having ideas about any of this. It’s enough to immerse body and mind in the loving wisdom of true nature. Liberated action comes from here, it’s never simply passive, it’s alive and needs to live to be realised.
The joy of being, its numerous beneficial, selfless and reliable qualities then reveal themselves. There is an unforced strength in vulnerability and great freedom in life that can never be known while clinging to thought. A fearless energetic fulfilment, free of views and opinions, real letting go is vastly different to imagined letting go.
This is what seated meditation is meant to bring forth.
