You'll need to have been introduced to the ceremonial form of this session if you are joining this meeting on Zoom.
We start at 6.30pm with a seated and walking meditation period, followed by a ceremonial reciting of Zen Master Dogen's Rules for Meditation (another well known translation is, 'Recommending Zazen To All People). There is an incense offering and bows at the start and end of the service. A second sitting period comes after this that ends with chanting a short series of verses, The Litany of the Great Compassionate One and Vespers. If you are joining on Zoom, it will help you to have your own copies of Rules for Meditation, The Litany of the Great Compassionate One and Vespers. Files of these can be downloaded from the Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey website here
The last part of evening is an opportunity to talk about practice and have a cup of something. The meeting usually ends around 8.45-9.00pm.
