Introduction to meditation, morning session

Introduction to meditation, morning session

16/11/2024

If you are planning to attend an introduction session (or any first visit) - please use the contact form / phone - to let Rev. Willard (the Prior), know. A minimum of 48hrs advance notice is required. Please do not turn up at the temple if you haven't received a reply.

Also:

  • if you are under the age of 18, you must inform the Prior
  • if you are under the age of 16, written permission from a parent or guardian is required before you can attend unaccompanied. Parents or guardians are welcome to accompany children of course.

These short sessions are aimed at introducing you to seated meditation, walking meditation, and broader aspects of Buddhist practice.

You do not need to bring anything particular with you. Most normal clothing is fine, though it will help if you wear reasonably loose fitting clothing for your comfort, especially around your waist and legs.

If you would like to do some background reading, the book Sitting Buddha gives a good introduction and overview of our practice. This should help you make the most out of your first visit. See the 'recommended reading' on this page for details.

If these scheduled sessions don't work for you, it is easy to arrange individual introductions at other times. Just get in touch with Willard using the contact form.
