A day to express gratitude and appreciation for the life of Reverend Master Myfanwy McCorry. Myfanwy was prior of Dragon Bell Temple for nearly twenty years since she first established it here in Devon in 2001 until her death 2nd July 2020.
The day will look like as follows:
9.00 – 9.35am Meditation
10.00 – 10.35 Meditation
11.00 Memorial Ceremony
Potluck lunch – please bring food to share
After lunch opportunities include, a group walk in the nearby Teign Valley, hang out at Cross Farm or head home. The day will be a sociable chance to catch up with sangha friends and have a good chin wag as well as sit together in silence and stillness.
The memorial ceremony will be quite short and simple with chanting of three scriptures; The Scripture of Great Wisdom, Sandokai, Adoration of the Buddha’s Relics. We will have aan udio a backing track of a recording of the Throssel community to help us.
If you can’t come in person, you can join on Zoom for the 9.00am meditation and 10.00 am meditation periods and the memorial ceremony. You can either stay online the whole time or come and go. There won’t be much opportunity to converse with people at the temple I’m afraid, but Zoom people can chat together in their remote realm, we won’t be listening at the temple! Zoom login details will be the usual, if you don’t have them, please contact Willard at the temple. Here is a link to the Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey website where you can download PDF files of the scriptures . I will also post the relevant PDF’s on the Zoom meeting but you may find it easier to have paper copies if you wish to join in with the chanting.
Looking forward to welcoming you at the temple on the day.
